Jimmy Hayes Called Up For NHL Debut

* * * * -

Hayes, acquired from Toronto in exchange for the 43rd overall selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (Bradley Ross) on June 26th, 2010, has been called up for his NHL debut.

Last year Hayes made his professional debut playing 7 games with the IceHogs but was unable to score any points. This year he has scored 5 goals as well as adding 13 assists for 18 points in 28 games for the IceHogs.

He is expected to line-up on the right side of Dan Carcillo and Jamal Mayers.

The Boston, MA native is a right-handed shot and will be sporting #39. He will be hard to miss with his 6' 6" frame weighing in at 221 pounds.

IS he replacing Kruger?

If Carcillo is back who's the scratch or is Pirri going back?

Scott scratched? He could be useful against the Redwings. Not sure why but I have grown fond of old Scott.

I don't like the revolving AHL door right now. But I understand it.

It's a big change, you might be surprised. One loss and Q blows shit up.

Thank you sir.

He really wasn't doing much was he? Not that I expected it. I don't expect it from Hayes either. I don't believe in putting high expectations on these kids that get yanked out of the AHL mid season. Very few ever come up and make an instant impact. I like Pirris work ethic and he has a future. Just not yet. Maybe Hayes can make use of his shot.

Didn't Pirri score his first Hawks goal against DET in the pre-season?

Strange lines. I don't put much bank on Q's pre-game lines as we know they can change in a shift. But these ones are off a bit in my opinion. Carcillo/Toes/Hossa is unusual.

I wish he'd put Scott in (yes, even on D) over O'Donnell. Maybe bust some Detroit heads open.

Pirri, Hayes and Stanton were at the Hawks game two weeks ago together. They told me they were there to watch Jeremy.

Since then, Pirri and Hayes have been called up. Irony?

Stanton to soon follow?

I think Pirri was recalled to see if he could stand in for an injured Kruger. There is no doubt they could be showing the youth at this level for some possible future deals near the TDL. I would also think scouts are constantly in and out of the Metro Center.

Wouldn't that be a bad ideal to showcase at the major league level. A prospect is a suspect, either you take a stab or you don't, let that team make their assessment on their minor league play.

I'm thinking that if they put in a good effort, and don't look out of place, it's a big selling point. I'd say that Pirri stock just went up. He was put into a position (line) that would have minimal screw up opportunities, but he looked like he belonged...for the most part.

When is the TDL? The recent callups raise my interest that something may be afloat from the parent club.

As far as your assumptions about scouts, you are dead on. The box is always full of scouts and agents. One game alone several weeks ago Dirk Graham was being chatted up with Agenthehe and Klem while I was talking to Antti's friend and agent (not Zito).

Ah, Dirk Graham, a fine captain indeed, and a fine porn stache to boot.

I am looking forward to seeing Hayes play. i hope he uses that big frame as he should, not ala Bickel.

I thought Hayes played well on his shifts. The penalty against him was a bullshit call.

I liked his size and the fact he used it (Bickell) correctly as well as his speed he had from the long strides he uses.

All in all I wouldn't mind him taking Bickells spot in the lineup.
