Beach Pops Shoulder; Will Miss Time
Oct 29 2011 10:47 PM | Ton in Prospect Report
Kyle Beach suffered a dislocated shoulder in last nights 6-4 win over the Peoria Rivermen.
Beach, 21, leads the IceHogs forwards in points this season with three goals and three assists for a total of six points in eight games, as well as leading the team in penalty minutes with 18 total PIM.
Selected 11th in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Kyle is expected to be a contributing member to the Blackhawks organization in the coming years ahead despite having a disappointing rookie campaign last year in the AHL, only compiling a total of 36 points in 71 games and a team worst minus-24.
The extent of the injury is unknown, but typically should take 4-6 weeks to recover unless surgery is required.

Can someone shut Grimson up. I'm trying to sleep over here and all I hear is crying.

Stu's whimpering in his sleep, thinking it's only a bad dream. Wake him up and it'll be a living nightmare for him and he'll start bawling. So wake him up, ...or let him sleep. Decisions, decisions.
That was a pretty good fight. It appears Della Rovere can throw 'em. Not sure if he will ever stick with the Blues though.
IM AWAKE AND MY EYES ARE CRUSTY FOR SOME REASON!
Done for the season.
He should retire. His career is obviously over.
That is heartbreaking after being so solid this year. Feel bad for the kid .
Awful news, I was hoping it was a 4-6 weeks type of deal, this is the worst case scenario.
I'm assuming he'll go through surgery, then proceed into rehab?

let's now hope hes the next bickell. Taking a little longer than expected to develop in the minors, PLUS having to overome a bad injury late.
Well let's hope he's like either of them and makes the roster one day.
Beach is a waste of talent. Has a ton of skills, can skate, good sense, yet he has done literally everything possible to fuck it up. 8th overall, we knew we were taking a gamble and it seems we got the short end. I gave up hope when he couldn't put his head on even decently for this past off-season. What really blows is how good we'd be if he was a guy who actually wanted and understood the opportunity he had. It'd probably be his 2nd season and he'd be netting a good amount of goals on one of the top two lines.
Next.
Next.
He wasn't 8th, he was 11th. Just a little nit-pick.
Well, the few times I had seen him this preseason and regular season, I noticed an improvement.

the return could STILL be tenfold. A lot of prospects don't come into the league and make a difference immediatly. He was having a good season before his injury. He seems to have figured it out. Hopefully it can continue.

A lot of prospects also don't have the advantage of coming into a situation as great as Beach did. The only thing to convince me that Beach will ever be anything is when he is on the ice in an NHL game, as of now I don't see ANYTHING alluding to that.

Don't know why I needed to explain that, but THATS.........

You guys really don't see the situation he walked into as something PERFECT for a first round pick. I mean within a season we won the cup with the youngest team in the NHL, (don't know what more needs to be said). Our organization clearly has no problems with young players playing very key roles for our team, its not like he was drafted in Columbus where he'd have been screwed regardless. To me if Beach was up with the big club, the leadership, talent and coaching around him is the best in the NHL for a young player to succeed.

lol you serious man? Where would they have put an 18 year old Beach on that team?
do you remember the lineups? keep in mind that the players that were on our THIRD LINE went on to score 60 points after the move. yes we were a young team, but we were LOADED.
I didn't say he should have been on the cup team at all, just proved what our management liked.
After the departure of Buff, Ladd, Versteeg, Eager we were literally begging for a physical winger who scored, and at a rookie contract like he would have had only he could seem to fuck that up. As I said I think the guys a total fucktard who has made a GREAT opportunity into something of a longshot, I'll believe it when he's suited up a game for the big club.

and last year was his first year in pro hockey. How many first year pros are NHL ready? It's easy to point out the six players picked after Beach that round that are enjoying NHL careers, but how about the 9 that aren't?
hell, Cody Hodgson was supposed to be huge when he got drafted. He played in the AHL last season too.
by the way, it's Josh Bailey's fourth NHL season. He was taken two picks before Kyle. Some would argue he STILL isn't ready. Or that he was ruined by joining the club at 18 years old (my arguement)
