Kane throws first pitch at Cubs game

* * * * *

Kane threw the first pitch at today's Cub's game.

First question you might have, who cares? I'll knock that out of the way.

That news alone is probably worthless to most, but he did it with a splint. Coupled with that bit of information this might catch the eyes of a few Hawks fans.

With training camp 12 days away, Kane moved out of his cast and in a splint. Either way, his recovery window at the time was 6-8 weeks, which at this point should have ended about a week ago. Although he might be a bit late in achieving that although this doesn't mean he won't be ready.

Some reports out there suggest Kane stated that he will be back for the first game of the season, but he may have been misquoted as he never said he would not attend any preseason tilts. Assuming his recovery is on course, it's more likely that he will participate in at least a few preseason games as well as training camp.

UPDATE: According to several recent reports Kane will get the splint off on September 15th, two days before training camp begins. He expects to play in three or four preseason games.
